Housing and Food Services

Housing and Food Services provides almost all the food sold on campus. It is a part of the University, and has played a key role in advancing the conversation about food on campus. HFS’s sustainable food purchasing practices are listed on their website. HFS encourages sustainable living at the UW’s dorms, and partners with the College of the Environment on a sustainability living community (floor) at the residence halls.


Located on the street level of brand-new Elm Hall, Cultivate is a special destination for students, faculty and staff who want to experience full-service dining with a nod to locally-sourced fresh food and a community feel. The menu celebrates new discoveries and memories of food, and features a Pacific Northwest twist on regional comforts. Leading the restaurant is Chef James Windau.
